Welcome to Council Rock Primary School, the beginning of your child’s educational journey in the Brighton School system. The staff and I look forward to working with you and your child during your child’s primary years. We strive to know each individual child while teaching them to become a part of our CR community emphasizing cooperation and integration. We are a school where humor is appreciated, camaraderie is apparent, shared decision-making is part of our school operations, and technology supports and enhances learning.

Our partnership with parents is highly valued in educating each child. Parents often visit our school to have lunch with their child and to volunteer in a class or on a committee. I believe this parent involvement in school positively impacts the learning for the children at Council Rock School. Regular communication happens through classroom newsletters, report cards, conferences, the Council Rock Reporter, e-mail and eNews.

Our staff participates in staff development opportunities in curriculum development, child development, and the special needs of each and every child. There are five early release days during the school year to support staff training and parent conferences. Some areas of study include mathematics, language arts, science, and technology. We appreciate the time to learn together. The Early Release Days are on October 8, November 9, November 30, December 14 and May 26.

While at Council Rock School, children will begin to acquire the knowledge, skills and behaviors that are the foundation for being successful learners. Children of different abilities, talents, interests and backgrounds work and play together. As the children progress through our learning journey, they explore, manipulate, create, discuss and master many basic social and academic concepts and skills. In a safe and nurturing environment, each child is guided along the learning path.

I look forward to getting to know you. I love working with the children and adults at Council Rock and throughout Brighton.
