School/Community Resources
The Brighton School District strives to have its students and staff involved in the community and the community involved in its schools. There are many programs through which this occurs.
Lunch & LearnThe Lunch & Learn programs for the community are offered during the lunch hour in various schools. Staff members offer talks on a wide variety of topics. Community members may bring their lunches, and beverages are provided. There is no charge for this program. To learn more, go to our Lunch & Learn page.
Asset Initiative
The District is part of a community-wide initiative called Asset Development. This is an effort to provide young people with internal and external factors that nurture healthy development. These factors are called "developmental assets." Having these assets has been shown to protect youth from high risk behavior and help enhance healthy development and school success. Community Leaders
The District is in close contact with the leaders of dozens of community organizations to keep them informed about what is happening in the school district. They receive a monthly bulletin and are invited to breakfast meetings two or three times a year.
Visual, Music and Performing Arts Events
The public is welcome to attend all school arts events. Almost all events are free for everyone. Senior citizens with school district passes are admitted free to all events, including plays.
Intergenerational Committee
An Intergenerational Committee of school and community representatives meets regularly to plan activities that bring together people of all ages.
