Parent Notifications

 1. What is School Messenger and how do I sign-up?
School Messenger is a notification system programmed to call the primary phone number of parents for a variety of reasons that impact the safety and academic performance of students.

Initially School Messenger will be used for emergency notifications such as weather-related closings and other emergency notifications. However, the use of School Messenger may expand to general parent outreach including notification to parents regarding MyNutrikids lunch account balances, student attendance, transportation issues, school events, statewide testing, and/or to share news with parents from a principal or teacher about a specific list of students, such as students participating in a foreign language trip or in a particular athletic contest.

It is important to note that School Messenger will not replace current modes of communication. As always, principals and administrators remain accessible, and you will continue to receive district and student news through current means of communication including the District website, eNews, Cable Channel 12, and other written communication pieces.

To sign up:

To set up your account, visit https://contactme.schoolmessenger.com/; you will need a new student activation code, as the codes contained in the original letter have now expired.   Please call Jill Vigdor at 242-5096 or email jill_vigdor@bcsd.org or call Erin Maysick at 241-4537 or email erin_maysick@bcsd.org for a new activation code.

Parent Tools

 13. Can I use Combine Calendars to see assignments for a student in multiple classes?
Parents can download or view calendars from each of their children's teachers, a teacher/tutor can use the same option for one student.

Go to the classroom webpages for the building the teacher is in. Do a search for the teacher.

If you'd like to combine calendars for different teachers, click "add to favorites" under the teacher's name. The system will add your favorite teachers to a list. Simply click "done" when you are ready and it will take you to a calendar you can bookmark (or add to Favorites) for future use.

This is especially helpful if the teachers use and update the homework section using their site. It will also give you an easy way to view their entire site as well.
