School Messenger Notification System

The District has partnered with School Messenger, a company that provides notification of emergencies, student attendance, and other important parent information. The notification system is programmed to call the primary phone number of parents for a variety of reasons that impact the safety and academic performance of students.

To assure that you receive proper communication through the School Messenger notification system, you must set up an account by following the instructions in the letter sent home to all families. If you no longer have the letter, or did not receive a letter, a sample letter is attached below containing the set up instructions for your student's account.  This important task provides you with an opportunity to establish your contact information, such as the primary phone number and/or email address where you prefer to receive messages from the District. If an account is not set up, notifications will be sent using only the phone contact information contained in the District's student management system, which may be the phone number provided when your child was originally registered in the school district.

Initially School Messenger will be used for emergency notifications such as weather-related closings and other emergency notifications, high school student attendance, and transportation issues. The use of School Messenger may expand to general parent outreach including notification to parents regarding MyNutrikids lunch account balances, school events, statewide testing, and/or to share news with parents from a principal or teacher about a specific list of students, such as students participating in a foreign language trip or in a particular athletic contest.

It is important to note that School Messenger will not replace current modes of communication. As always, principals and administrators remain accessible, and you will continue to receive district and student news through current means of communication including the District website, eNews, Cable Channel 12, and other written communication pieces.
