The Mock Election at TCMS

TCMS Students Elect Barack Obama for President (October 31) • Barack Obama was chosen as the next President of the United States by TCMS students. Obama captured 76% of the vote (602 votes), winning by a 5-to-1 margin. The McCain/Palin ticket received 17% (136 votes). Nader received 53 votes.
In other races, students chose Rick Dollinger (66%) over Joe Robach (33%) for New York State Senator. For United States Congress, Eric Massa (75%) beat Randy Kuhl (24%). Students registered to vote the week before the election. Mrs. Deckman and the TCMS Student Council began sharing information about the Mock Election on the TCMS Morning Show and highlighted five different issues that were selected by students. On October 29 and 30, students cast their ballots using a 21st century online ballot.
Town Supervisor Sandra Frankel and Town Clerk Susan Kramarksy visited the polling place in the TCMS Atrium on both voting days. Frankel, Kramarsky, members of the student council and various student volunteers acted as Election Officers and helped make the voting process smooth. About the Mock Election
Students at Twelve Corners Middle School participated in the National Student/Parent Mock Election on October 29 and 30, 2008. The National Student/Parent Mock Election occurs every four years with the goal being to promote education about everyone's responsibility to vote.
