It is important for children to read with fluency because fluency helps aid with comprehension. Fluency is made up of six dimensions which can be broken into two main categories-Rate and Prosody.

When all dimensions of fluency are working together, the reader will be using expressions in a way that clearly demonstrates that he understands the text and is even thinking beyond the text.
