Update to Families – May 15
Dear Families,
As the song and video said, we’re hoping for more sunshine for all of you. We’ll keep thinking about ways to brighten days and we thank you for doing the same while supporting some great work from home. Thank you for all that you’re doing!
We’ve reviewed the school calendar and determined that given the changes in schedules throughout this year and for the end of the year in terms of school activities, final exams, etc., the school year will officially end for students on June 17. At their meeting on May 26, the Board of Education will be amending the school calendar to reflect these changes. Additional calendar changes will be made if directed by Executive Order from the Governor or if changes are made by the State Education Department.
At the end of next week, you will receive specific information on the collection of personal items from school and locker clean out. We’ll also be providing information to you regarding end of year returning of materials, books, and devices.
Additionally, we’re planning on Friday, May 22 being a day of instruction. However, in observance of the federal holiday, there won’t be instruction on Memorial Day (Monday, May 25).
Thanks to so many for joining the virtual town hall again this past week and sharing your thoughts in an exchange. This feedback has been invaluable in helping us adjust course and consider how we can best meet your needs. A summary of the thoughts shared, with answers to each question posed, can be found here. The next Virtual Town Hall will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 20 on the District Facebook page.
