• A Message from the Superintendent (Consenting) — Nov. 27

Dear Members of the Brighton School Community,

We hope that those celebrating enjoyed Thanksgiving and that everyone is healthy and well.

Thank you for providing consent for testing. We are writing with the additional information mentioned in our communication on Wednesday evening. Please note that nothing has changed with regard to schools opening again for in-person hybrid programming on Thursday, Dec. 3 and Friday, Dec. 4. We are still all-remote for all groups on Monday, Nov. 30, Tuesday, Dec. 1, and Wednesday, Dec. 2.

COVID-19 testing will be offered in a drive-through format next week in the Brighton High School parking lot, 1150 S. Winton Road. Testing hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Monday, Nov. 30 and Tuesday, Nov. 1, and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2. Testing is for Brighton Central School District hybrid students and staff only. It is not designated as a community testing site. Staff should be prepared to show their ID badges.

There will be four lines established to get everyone tested quickly. The test will be administered by a school nurse or licensed medical professional. Participants in sixth grade and older will be allowed to self-administer the test. Participants will not be required to leave their vehicles for the test or need to wait for the results. A school nurse will contact any families with a positive test result. Otherwise, participants can presume the test result was negative and will leave the parking lot as soon as their test is taken.
All students and staff must be tested on one of these three days in order to return to in-person instruction on Thursday, Dec. 3 and Friday, Dec. 4. Specific appointments are not available. Please come when you are able, but you must attend during one of these three days.

    Breakfast and Lunch

The Brighton High School parking lot will also be used for picking up breakfasts and lunches.

All Brighton student meals must be ordered online at http://onlineordering.linq.com. Breakfast and lunch menu options will be limited and are subject to change at any time. Only the entrée and milk will be able to be chosen.

The meals can be picked up through a drive-through line at Brighton High School Door 23 from 9 to 11 a.m. or 3 to 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30 through Wednesday, Dec. 2. Delivery by the Transportation Department is available when absolutely necessary. If you are requesting delivery, please fill out this form: https://www.bcsd.org/cms/module/selectsurvey/TakeSurvey.aspx?SurveyID=175.

Student allergies will be handled through the regular process. A medical note must be provided to the school nurse. Parents should contact the Food Service Office at 242-5200 ext. 4567 with questions or concerns. A Zoom meeting will be set up if a more detailed conversation is needed.

Thank you again for your participation and support. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at testing and when they return after Wednesday.

    Kevin McGowan, Ed.D.
    Superintendent of Schools
