Although Governor Cuomo announced changes to Orange Zone testing requirements yesterday, we are still awaiting new regulations from the state. Until we receive the new regulations, we are still operating under the current Orange Zone rules that require 100 percent of staff and students to be tested in order to return to in-person instruction.
This week’s schedule and plan for instruction will not change. We are still all remote on Tuesday, Dec. 1 and Wednesday, Dec. 2 with a return to in-person hybrid instruction on Thursday, Dec. 3 and Friday, Dec. 4.
If your student hasn’t been tested yet, COVID-19 testing will be offered in a drive-through format in the Brighton High School parking lot, 1150 S. Winton Road, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2. Testing is for Brighton Central School District hybrid students and staff only. It is not designated as a community testing site. Staff should be prepared to show their ID badges.
There will be four lines established to get everyone tested quickly. The test will be administered by a school nurse or licensed medical professional. Participants in sixth grade and older will be allowed to self-administer the test. Participants will not be required to leave their vehicles for the test or need to wait for the results. A school nurse will contact any families with a positive test result. Otherwise, participants can presume the test result was negative and will leave the parking lot as soon as their test is taken.
All students and staff must be tested on one of these days in order to return to in-person instruction on Thursday, Dec. 3 and Friday, Dec. 4. Specific appointments are not available.
