COVID Update — Sept. 29, 2021
Dear Families,
We’re a few weeks in and have remained remarkably healthy. It’s a great time to remind your students to keep their masks on and over their nose. Kids have largely done a great job, but it would be helpful if you could reaffirm how important masking is to keep everyone safe. Thank you in advance for your help in this regard.
Our testing program for staff will begin next week. As determined by the state, staff members will be tested weekly unless they choose to “opt-out” by providing proof of vaccination.
PCR tests are currently required for return to school in cases where the health department has determined that a test is needed. We have been directed to require PCR tests as opposed to rapid tests. We’re hopeful that rapid tests will at some point be approved for diagnosis and screening. We’ll keep monitoring this situation and let you know when systems are in place for this to happen and when it is permitted.
Here are our COVID numbers from the Monroe County Department of Public Health as of 3 p.m. today:
- Students or staff in quarantine: 10
- Council Rock Primary School positive cases: 1
- French Road Elementary School positive cases: 1
- Twelve Corners Middle School positive cases: 2
- Brighton High School positive cases: 0
Thank you for everything that you are doing to keep everyone safe and healthy.
Kevin
