COVID Update — Jan. 5, 2022
Dear Members of the Brighton School Community,
We hope that you’re safe and well. As expected, we continue to see a rise in cases for both students and staff. That said, we continue to remain focused on staying in person as long as we can operate safely. Changes in service may become a reality. We will inform you of challenges as they arise, but right now, it is working and we very much expect our daily program to continue as planned. Any prospective calendar changes or accommodations will be provided to you as soon as possible. This Friday’s District eNews will address any calendar changes that may be in place for coming weeks, but again, we are not planning on shifting to a remote program at this point.
As of today, our current case and quarantine numbers are:
Students or Staff in Quarantine: 6
Council Rock Primary School Cases: 3
French Road Elementary School Cases: 6
Twelve Corners Middle School Cases: 16
Brighton High School Cases: 36
- Please note that we have been informed that there will be guidance shortly regarding the shortening of isolation periods. The protocols being used for students have not yet been officially changed and are still in place as of this writing. We expect a shift from 10 to 5 days. Nurses will inform families of this change as soon as it is authorized.
- At home tests for students were provided this week. If your child did not get one, you can pick one up for them between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Central Office, 2035 Monroe Ave.
- Current health department requirements will not allow these tests to be used for return to school if a student has symptoms. A laboratory confirmed antigen or PCR test can be used.
- We are carefully monitoring events and capacity limits. We are NOT currently changing spectator capacity for athletic events and are busy analyzing seating and scheduling for other district events. Each event is being planned for and communicated about on a case-by-case basis.
Thank you for your help and support with regard to masking and vaccination. It’s not too late to slow the rate of infection or impact the seriousness of infection through boosters. Please check out this link to determine eligibility and for opportunities or information: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/booster-shot.html
Take care, be well, and best wishes for good health.
