Topics of study include cell biology, life processes, the human body, genetics, evolution and ecology. Particular emphasis is placed on the scientific method, human physiology, modern technology, and the human impact on the environment. Students are prepared for the NYS Regents Exam in The Living Environment in June. One laboratory section is scheduled each cycle and written laboratory work is required to take the exam. Two field experiences are incorporated into the course work: The Brighton Town Park Ecology Study (fall) and The Cape Cod Whale Watch (optional in early spring).
