School counselors promote mental and physical health, which maximizes learning, personal adjustment and social development. Counselors help students cope with crisis situations and school adjustment problems.

They provide counseling services related to such topics as positive self-image, career education, self-assessment, coping skills, program planning, post high school planning, and more. The counselors have a special understanding of family dynamics and can provide coordination between the school and home.
