WELCOME FROM THE BRIGHTON CENTRAL PTSA
Welcome to the 2020-2021 Brighton Central PTSA. I would like to start out by thanking all the individuals who volunteer their time to allow us to do the fun things for our students and faculty like:
Ice Cream Socials, Art Room Support, Library Support, School Pictures, Staff Appreciation Events, Movie and Pizza Nights, Community Service Outreach, Fun Food Fridays, Roller Skating, Game Nights, Activity Nights, Farewell Bonfire, Mock Interviews, Spirit Wear Sales, Homecoming Dance, BASH, Springfest, and believe it or not, even more!
I must also thank the BCSD Administrators, Teachers, Support Staff and Buildings and Grounds for their collaboration with us. These events are great examples of what the PTSA does and what we have accomplished as VOLUNTEERS.
As we continue to face budget cuts and uncertainties with COVID we will need volunteers more than ever before. The events listed above were all started by a volunteer who had an idea. This year, we will need new ideas and new insight from volunteers. We don’t know what the upcoming school year will bring. Events we hold may be different, additional events may need to be added. Help us. Our volunteers gave over 3,000 hours of service last year. We encourage everyone in our community to be involved with the PTSA and to have their voice be heard and their hands be put to good use. Visit us at ptsa.bcsd.
Do you want to know what is going on in our schools? Join us at our PTSA Central Community meetings to which all are invited to attend. At these meetings, we present building updates, feature special guest speakers, including our superintendent, Dr. Kevin McGowan, and discuss ways in which we can help to improve our students’ school experience. Meetings are usually the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 2035 Monroe Avenue (Central Administration Building). We offer daytime, lunch and evening meetings to accommodate different schedules. In an effort to have more members participate in PTSA we will be making our meetings available via Zoom. Please see the PTSA calendar for specific times. If you are not able to attend these meeting, e-mail me and I will ask your question or forward minutes.
In addition to our advocacy work, we engage in year-round fundraising. This is our most meaningful work. Last year the PTSA spent over $29,000 in programs that benefited our students. The beneficiaries of our fundraising include our libraries, scholarships, hardship grants, camperships, family educational programs and many additional activities.
Thank you for your continued support of the Brighton Central PTSA and our BCSD community.
