TMCS French Program

    Look at our dept website:

Level 1 language consists of a 3 year program (grades 6,7,8) in French, German or Spanish. Twelve Corners Middle School is proud to offer a full-year second language program to students in sixth grade. Most middle schools start LOTE (Languages Other Than English) programs in seventh grade. Since TCMS LOTE students have three years to master level 1, most have far surpassed the requirements of the NYS LOTE Standards. (See NYSED link below.)

Passing the French 8 school year and the NYS French 1 exam (with a 65% or better) give the student one high school credit. These 2 grades do appear on the high school transcript. TCMS does not offer honors classes for any LOTE class.  All LOTE classes are grouped homogeneously. Students can be recommended to accelerate to French 2H in ninth grade at BHS. To receive a BHS Regents diploma, students need to pass NYS June exams at level 1 (8th grade) and at level 3 (10th grade). AP French is offered in twelth grade.

LOTE 6,7,8 classes meet everyday for 39 minutes.

Loren Mashewske and Patricia Malley teach French full time to grades 6,7,8.  We have one part-time French 7 teacher.

You can click on the curriculum map documents to read exactly what is taught in each grade level.
