Residents of the Brighton Central School District approved an $82,943,949 budget for the 2020-21 school year by a vote of 3,534 to 703. Both propositions were approved. Voters also elected three board members to the Board of Education: Larry Davis, Julene Gilbert, and Dr. Susan Gasparino.
Pam Melroy is a veteran of three space shuttle flights and was the second woman to command one. Melroy logged more than 924 hours in space, contributing to the construction of the space station on every mission.
Mr. Salerno selected Kara Roux and Tim Tourangeau; Mr. LaPaglia selected Neila Mariano and Max Zwas; and Mrs. Forsyth selected Gabriela Bello and Sean Tipple.
Students walked up the front steps of the school and received congratulations and a diploma from Superintendent Dr. Kevin McGowan and Principal Dr. Tom Hall. Families were able to watch their students from the bottom of the stairs and get photos taken afterwards.
Eighth graders had an opportunity to say goodbye to their teachers before they move on to Brighton High School on Wednesday, June 17. Twelve Corners Middle School held a farewell drive-thru where families drove by a line of staff members in front of the school.
