Small Groups

  • With Small Groups, a small number of students are identified by some common characteristic (i.e. readiness level, interest, learning style) to study and work together under the supervision of the teacher.

    For each school, the options for small groups are listed below.

    Council Rock Primary School

    • Short series of work sessions at grades 1 and 2 in which students with similar interests and/or aptitudes gather for an in-depth investigation of a topic extended from a current curricular focus.  To ensure student success, participation is based on a specific set of criteria for each topic.  Groups are flexible and change depending on the investigation. 
    • Extended Studies teacher meets informally with individual or small groups of children.  Participation is based on demonstrated need.

    Entrance Criteria:   Specific criteria are in place for each exploration, including demonstration of appropriate skills and interests.

    French Road Elementary School

    • Short series of work sessions in which students with similar interests and/or aptitudes gather to investigate in-depth a topic that extends classroom study.  Teacher requested.
