We’ve just learned from the Governor that schools will be closed through April 29. We’ve also received word from the state Board of Regents that this June’s Regents exams are canceled.
Under direction from the state, Brighton Central School District is closing all of its schools and offices to the public. The District will only be staffed by essential personnel. We will attempt to answer the main switchboard between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at 242-5200.
Orchestras from French Road Elementary School, Twelve Corners Middle School, and Brighton High School filled up the BHS gym for the annual District-Wide Strings Concert in February.
In these uncertain times, the Brighton community has really come together. The same spirit was on display in March when all Brighton students participated in a day of service during the Brighton Believes Day of Caring.
Brighton Central School District hosted the New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) Fund Our Future Bus Tour on Feb. 6. Brighton is not paid $8.1 million in foundation aid, which could cause the District to lose some programs next school year if the issue isn’t resolved.
Seventh grade German students learned about the origins of gingerbread and the Brothers Grimm in December. Over 150 Twelve Corners Middle School students and teachers came into the German classroom to vote on their favorite creation.
