Welcome to the Transportation Department

  • What’s Happening in Transportation

We're finalizing transportation for the 2018-19 school year. Bus passes will be mailed home at the end of August.

Please contact the Transportation Department with any questions at 242-5200 ext. 5092.

    Bus Rider Rules

    1. Be at the bus stop 5 minutes before pick up time.

    2. Listen to your bus driver and monitor at all times - wait for the bus driver's signal to cross.

    3. Respect the property and personal rights of others while at the bus stop and on the bus.

    4. No skateboards, golf clubs, large musical instruments, skis or creatures (dead or alive) on the bus.

    5. Please refer to the Parent Handbook for the 2018-19 school year for bus transportation rules and guidelines.

     PM Drop Off Information

For students in grades K through 2, we ask that a parent or authorized adult be visible to the driver at the stop location.

For students in grades 3 through 5, we ask that the parents provide a safe option when the child gets off, it's NOT required that an adult be present.  If the child has a key please be sure they have it.

REMEMBER: PM drop times may vary based on ridership.

    Bus Information

Bus transportation is provided by First Student under contract with the Brighton School District. Transportation is provided for K-2 students living at least 1/8 mile from school, for 3-5 students living at least 1/4 mile from school, and for 6-12 students living at least 3/4 mile from school. Our goal is to provide all Brighton students with safe, pleasant and efficient transportation.

Bus schedules are mailed to parents during the last two weeks in August. Please allow a week or so for the bus to get on a regular schedule. Beyond that time, notify the transportation department of any problems with the bus schedule at 585 242-5200 Ext 5092.

SINCE TRAFFIC AND WEATHER CONDITIONS MAY AFFECT ARRIVAL TIME, PLEASE ALLOW A NORMAL FIVE MINUTE VARIANCE FOR THESE FACTORS.

Please be sure the transportation office has accurate information for day care and/or babysitting arrangements as they affect bus pick-up and drop-off. It is important you keep this information updated with any changes by using the Transportation Form that can be found on line and at the school.

Requests for a student to ride on an AM bus other than the one assigned  MUST BE MADE IN WRITING and given to the AM Bus driver. In the PM, a child is only allowed to ride another bus with a Bus Dismissal Pass that is filled out and turned into school the day of the change. Bus dismissal passes are available for K-5 children on line or main office.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
