Mrs. Dalton's Second Grade Class - Classroom 16

  •  Welcome to Second Grade

I am looking forward to working with my second grade students this year.  We will see lots of familiar faces along with new ones.  There will be some first grade routines carried over into second grade as well as new ones.  The class itself is physically different, too.

Our first read aloud is called, I AM America.  It is a beautiful photographic story of the diversity of children living in our country.  We will start the first few days by sharing our posters, I Am America.  This will allow us to have the opportunity to learn many new things about each other.  Posters will be displayed around the room for Open House.

September is an exciting time for our class as we learn about the butterfly life cycle.  We will raise Painted Ladies and Monarch butterflies.  We will observe them and record our observations.

We will have some familiar routines as well as new ones to follow for second grade expectations.  Backpacks and take home folders will be two important supplies to have on a daily basis. Take home folders will be passed out on the first day of school. Everyday your child will be asked to bring in a healthy snack.  Please have one in their backpack for the first day of school.

See you on Tuesday, September 1, 2015.
