Welcome to Ms. Button's Music Page!

    Hello everyone!

    Happy Spring!

Second grade students were very busy celebrating Music in Our Schools month. We welcomed musicians from the Eastman School of Music who came to perform for some of our classes. We also worked very hard to learn dances for our Open House/Ice Cream Social Performance. Next up is Earth month, where we have begun work on learning our songs for our upcoming Earth day assembly on Friday, April 28th. The focus this year is on soil/dirt. The songs, One Light, One Sun, Inch by Inch, Row by Row (The Garden Song) and The Green Grass Grew All Around can be found on my songs page. The students sound amazing!  In May, we will be scheduling a final "sharing" day for students who take lessons outside of school to share with classmates some of what they have learned. I will be sending notes home about that soon. And exploring improvisation in our Orff ensemble work.

First grade students are continueing to improvise in Orff ensemble, and have begun learning solfegge notes on the staff. Both grade levels are learning Spring songs and dances. In addition to our earth day songs, first graders are currently working on a music class play, "Jack and the Beanstalk".

Kindergarten students are learning to read and play rhythm patterns on drums and non-pitch percussion, and continuing to dance to the music of famous composers. We will begin this month by listening and moving to "Spring" by Antonio Vivaldi.

Parents, please always feel free to email either myself, or Mrs. Granat, with any questions, comments, or thoughts you may have. Enjoy the sun!
