We had a great week, albeit a short one, back to school for the beginning of the 2019 portion of our school year! Dr. Maloy, Ms. Balling and I enjoyed meeting with all the students in smaller groups over the course of two days during their PE classes to review expectations and recognize everything they do to make our school shine! All the students looked taller, refreshed and ready to continue their studies and extracurricular involvement. Thanks for all the support you provide at home!
TCMS Student Council Cookie Dough Fundraiser
All interested students can participate in our annual cookie dough fundraiser which will kick off on January 10th. All the money raised goes into the student council trip assistance fund to pay for or off-set the costs of the 7th grade Washington DC trip, the 8th grade foreign language trips, end of year field trips to Seabreeze for all grades, 6th grade outdoor education and more. Last year nearly $6,000 was raised so all students could participate in many of these events. The students will be able to turn in their little books on January 11 and then their orders during lunch on January 23. Cookie dough will be delivered to TCMS on February 27th for pick-up. Look for more detailed information in the packet on Thursday and in future enews messages. Thanks to all the PTSA parents who are helping with this year's event!
7th Grade Activity Night
The second 7th Grade Activity Night is Friday, January 11 from 7 to 9 PM (Please see the attached Flyer). Only TCMS 7thgrade students may attend this event. Parent volunteers are needed and welcome, but parents are not required to attend. Please check out this volunteer link:
On March 6 volunteer and charitable agencies from across our region will be visiting all TCMS students to share information about their organization and let us know what it means to be a caring member of the community. If you are involved in such an agency, or know someone who is, let me know and we may be able to add them to our program. The event will run from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on that Wednesday. This will be the second year we have organized this event with leadership from Mrs. Falter, Mrs. Kantz and our PTSA parents.
TCMS Yoga Club
The club is back and ready to start on January 8th after school.
Mountain Bound for Current 8th Graders
The Brighton High School Mountain Bound program will be traveling up to the Adirondacks this summer for its annual five day adventure, from August 5th to August 9th. This adventure and leadership program involves rock climbing, canoeing, hiking, swimming, star gazing, and some very exciting team building games. No prior camping experience in necessary, there are multiple levels of difficulty within each activity to challenge the first time camper and the experienced hiker. The program is open to current 8th graders at TCMS to current 11th graders at BHS. If you are interested, would like more information, or have questions please contact Mr. Porta (email@example.com) for an information packet.
