Chinese Club Plans for the New Year

From the Attendance Office

Please be sure to call the TCMS attendance office whenever your child will be absent, especially as the February break approaches. The number is 242-5100 ex. 5118. Also, please reinforce with your children that being on time to homeroom is an important way to start the day. Our administrators meet with students who are late more than three times in a five-week period and assign a consequence, then follow up with a letter home. Thanks for your help!

Participate in Our Thought Exchange About the Budget

We need your input as we develop next year's proposed school budget. We'd like you to share your thoughts on budget development, the property tax cap, and programs to be supported or ideas for reductions that would accommodate both the cap and virtually no increase in state funding. So, we need to know what is most important to you? We know that staying under the cap would require dramatic changes to the non-mandated but Brighton experience programs because of the lack of state aid being provided. We continue to strive for the most efficient operation possible while balancing the needs of students and the expectations of the community. You supported an increase over the cap several years ago in order to maintain programming in the same situation. We only ever come to you with an annual increase that we feel we need in order to maintain and foster excellence for all children. However, we need your input as we contemplate a proposed budget.

By clicking here, you can participate in a Thought Exchange that flows through three easy steps: Share, Star, and Discover. This particular tool allows you to see all of the comments being made by your classmates, colleagues, and neighbors. It allows you to comment and rate comments, all anonymously. The exchange format helps all of us see how the community feels and to build on each other's perspectives. If you create an account, you will be able to log back in at a later time and see how others rated your comments.

Just One Day Fundraiser

Next Friday, Nate Schrieber from the Al Sigl Community of Agencies will be here in the morning to collect one dollar from students, so they can wear their hat or hood for the day! The kids are excited about this student council event and being able to "break the rule" for a good cause.  Students may contribute more if they like, and others may not be able to contribute, but all are allowed to participate. This is the day that reminds me why we don't allow hats and hoods to be worn during the school day, but it is also a nice way to have some fun for a good cause before the break!

Festival of Ideas

It's not too late to register for Festival of Ideas! Bring your forms to the main office box as soon as you can and join the fun at Festival 2019! Additional forms are in the TCMS main office.

TCMS Meeting with the Principal

Our next meeting is on February 17 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. We will be hosting a group discussion on one of two books:  The Teenage Brain: A Neuroscientist's Survival Guide to Raising Adolescents and Young Adults by Frances E. Jensen:
