District Increases Mental Health Staff

Haughey, Head and Trumbull

Brighton Central School District has added three new staff members to its mental health department to help serve our students and families.

Kristin Haughey is the District’s Family Navigator and will be working out of the Administration Building. She is a school-based counselor from Delphi Rise. Haughey will help facilitate referrals to Genesee Mental Health at both the middle school and high school as well as referrals to other services that could be needed by Brighton families. She will work one-on-one and in groups with students who have been referred for high-risk behaviors and concerns of substance use, and with families who may have difficulties accessing services due to insurance barriers. Students and families will be referred to Haughey by their school’s counseling department.

Brian Head and Sue-Ellen Trumbull are therapists from Genesee Mental Health. They will provide individual and family therapy as well as evaluations such as screenings for depression and lethality (suicide). They also will work with students who have varying mental health needs including anxiety, ADHD, and various social/emotional and environmental stressors at home and in school. Head will be at Brighton High School and Trumbull will be at Twelve Corners Middle School.
