French Road Elementary School held assemblies on March 21 as part of the Spread the Word Movement. Spread the Word is a global engagement campaign to increase inclusion among people with and without developmental disabilities.
Students heard stories of inclusion and how to practice it every day from fourth grader Nora Cummins, her friend Everett, and Best Buddies of Rochester. Students wore fun or silly socks to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day to represent acceptance of differences and uniqueness. The event ended with a dance party. Players from the Rochester Knighthawks came to support the cause.
