Brighton Girls Swimming Repeats as Section V Champion

Girls Swimming Champs Again

Last year, the Brighton girls swimming and diving team captured its first Section V Championship in the program’s history. The Barons made it two straight Class B titles with another outstanding team performance on Friday, Nov. 2.

Brighton finished with 470 points to hold off second-place Canandaigua, who finished with 351.

Brighton’s team of Ming Na Xu, Jessica Gordon, Mackenzi Doescher, and Elizabeth Hahn won the 200-yard medley relay in a meet-record time of 1:47.21; Doescher won the 200 freestyle; Gordon won the 200 individual medley; Hannah Butler won diving with a Section V record score of 569.75; Gordon won the 100 freestyle; Doescher won the 500 freestyle; Xu won the 100 backstroke; and the team of Xu, Doescher, Hahn, and Gordon won the 400 freestyle relay. Many other Brighton swimmers scored points for the team.

The swimming and diving team also includes: Rory Baker, Kaitlin Black, Meghan Black, Sydney Case, Emma Chambers, Rachel Chilson, Alice Diakova, Emma Diefendorf, Hailey Doescher, Helen Frank, Eleni Gotsis, Savni Gupta, Lily Hunt, Megan Kenna, Hannah Kleiner, Victoria Kotalik, Madison McMahon, Taliya Moore, Leah Rosen, Leeva Selioutski, Kathryn Shaw, Molly Sifling, Halle Silva, Kahri Silva, Graciela Simpson, Elena Solodova, Tatiana Solodova, Hayley Stolberg, Riley Tobin, Leticia Vechiato, Natalie Vinton, Willa Wagner, and Ren Watt. The team is coached by Christina Davidson, Maggie Freeberg, and Whitney Mietz.

The Barons went 8-0 during the season.
