Teachers from Modi’in, Israel visited the District in December. The visit was through Partnership2Gether, a program of the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester. Through a collaborative learning process, this program works to build bridges between individuals and institutions representing two different nations, creating cultural understanding.
Educators from Modi'in and Rochester work collaboratively to develop common goals, work plans, and joint activities with the purpose of creatively teaching about each other’s culture, history, and society. The foundation of all learning associated with this partnership is rooted in the relationships between educators, students, and families, making these relationships and projects tangible and real. This is the only program of its kind in the United States involving public schools.
During their visit, the Israeli teachers observed classes, received a presentation about the District from Superintendent Dr. Kevin McGowan, and toured Twelve Corners Middle School and Brighton High School.
Over the last few years, several members of the Brighton faculty have participated in this teacher exchange program. Brighton High School has a yearly exchange program for students with MOR High School in Modi'in as well.
