Seventh graders at Twelve Corners Middle School recently learned about the school’s zero waste program during chemistry class. Sarah Quirk, the District’s zero waste manager, taught students about the organics piece of the program and what happens to the organic waste that’s collected. Teacher Jessica Padilla challenged her students to come up with posters that would encourage their classmates to participate in the zero waste program.
The winners of the contest were Adam Goltsman and Marley Goldberg with Mollie Skolnik and Amelia Hutchinson as the runners up. The winning posters will be displayed around the school.
The zero waste program is in place at all four of the District’s cafeterias.
