Past and current BHS students, faculty, staff and supporters are invited to celebrate the new members of the Brighton Schools Alumni Hall of Fame (BSAA)/BHS Alumni Hall of Fame at this year’s Recognition Gala, to be held on Friday, June 7, 2019, at Oak Hill Country Club.

This year’s honorees represent the fields of medicine, education, journalism, and business:

  • Myron “Flint” Beal, MD, BHS’68, University Professor of Neurology and Neuroscience in the Department of Neurology and Neuroscience at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University–New York Presbyterian Hospital, whose groundbreaking research has focused on the mechanisms of neuronal degeneration in neurodegenerative diseases;
  • Lynn Astarita Gatto, BHS’70, longtime elementary school teacher and associate professor at the Warner School of Education of the University of Rochester who is a distinguished teacher educator and founding director of an innovative summer program serving urban students;
  • Tom Hamburger, BHS’70, Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist, currently with the Washington Post;
  • Bob Lambrix, BHS’57, senior business executive whose background includes serving as chief financial officer of two Fortune 100 companies and being involved in philanthropy.

“We are delighted to once again recognize the stellar achievements of BHS alumni and through them, the high quality of the Brighton education and experience,” said Stephen Gaudioso, BHS’63 and chair of the BSAA/BHS Alumni Hall of Fame Committee. “BHS alumni represent excellence in a wide range of professions, and also are shining examples of service in their communities. We hope that adding this year’s honorees to our Hall of Fame will continue to inspire current and future Brighton students, and fellow alumni of all ages to achieve similar renown.”

The hall of famers will be introduced to the BHS student population during this year’s awards ceremony on the morning of June 7 and have been invited to speak to classes throughout the day.
