Struzik Receives Outstanding Music Educator Award from RPO
Brighton High School music teacher Mike Struzik is the recipient of the 2020 Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra's Musicians' Award for Outstanding Music Educators in the instrumental music - band category.
Founded in 1988, the awards program works to strengthen the relationship between area music educators and the musicians of the RPO. The awards commend teachers who have shown both educational and musical excellence and who recognize the positive influence they have on musicians and audiences of the future. Administrators, educators, parents, and students submit nominations that are then reviewed by a committee comprised of community educators and RPO musicians.
Mr. Struzik is in his 26th year of teaching in the District. He directs the BHS Jazz Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble and teaches all of the brass and percussion lessons in the building. Mr. Struzik also teaches music theory and composition and AP music theory.
He will receive this award at the RPO concert on March 19 after the intermission.
