Brighton, Dr. McGowan Recognized by U.S. Secretary of Education
Brighton Superintendent Dr. Kevin McGowan was recognized at the ASSA’s (The School Superintendents Association) Superintendent of the Year Forum in Washington D.C. earlier this week.
U.S. Secretary of Education Dr. Miguel Cardona was a keynote speaker at the event and highlighted Brighton’s success in his speech. Dr. McGowan led a presentation about how Brighton schools are addressing the individual needs of all students and closing the achievement gap.
Dr. McGowan was also invited to take part in a press conference celebrating the second anniversary of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law alongside U.S. Senators Chuck Schumer, Thomas Carper, Catherine Cortez Masto, Margaret Wood Hassan, John Hickenlooper, and Debbie Stabenow. The legislation includes $5 billion in funding for the Clean School Bus Program to replace existing buses with zero-emission and low-emission models. Brighton hopes to add electric buses in the next few years. You can watch the press conference here.
