Ashley Edwards Named BHS Assistant Principal

Brighton Central School District Superintendent Dr. Kevin McGowan has announced the selection of Ashley C. Edwards as the new Brighton High School assistant principal.

“Ashley Edwards has demonstrated as both a teacher and a school leader that she is exceptionally dedicated to meeting the needs of each child,” Dr. McGowan said. “Her intellect, energy, enthusiasm, and connection to students will be an asset to an outstanding leadership team at BHS. We’re so fortunate to have this experienced leader coming to work with our children and staff.”

Edwards served as an assistant principal at Fairport High School during the 2020-21 school year. She was responsible for the supervision and discipline of all students and helped to organize all character education and “Proud To Be A Raider” initiatives. Edwards also oversaw all clubs and extracurricular activities. Prior to becoming assistant principal, she taught social studies at Victor and Fairport high schools. During Edwards’ career, she choreographed school musicals, co-taught English as a New Language (ENL) Global History classes, and served as student council advisor.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in history from SUNY Geneseo and a master’s degree in social studies education from Binghamton University. Edwards also completed her administrative certification in school leadership from the University of Rochester.

Edwards lives in Penfield with her husband, Shawn, and three sons, Landon, Beckett, and Greyson.
