Transportation
Welcome to the Transportation Department
Important Transportation Information for the
2025-2026 School Year
Please contact the Transportation Department with any questions at 585-242-5200 ext. 5806.
You can also email us at: bcsd_transportation@bcsd.org
During the summer of 2025 the Transportation Department will send out bus letters using ParentSquare. We will not be sending paper copies home. This will allow us to send the most up to date bus letters possible. If you need to receive a paper copy please email us at: bcsd_transportation@bcsd.org
TIMELINE:
You will receive a PRELIMARY Bus letter by Thursday 7/31. This letter will contain the following important information:
- Your child’s anticipated morning pick-up location and time
- Your child’s anticipated afternoon drop-off location and time.
In addition to the bus letter, you will receive a copy of our Transportation Request form in case you need to make any updates to your child’s arrangements.
You can access that form here: 2025-2026 Transportation Request Form.
We will work on processing any change request we get and updating the routes accordingly.
You will then receive a FINAL Bus Letter on either Wednesday, August 20th or Thursday, August 21st. The FINAL Bus letter will contain the actual pick-up and drop-off locations for the first day of school.
If we receive additional change requests after the FINAL Bus Letters have gone out we can make changes under the following limited circumstances:
- We can add our child to a pre-existing bus stop.
- We will not honor changes that require us adding a new bus stop location to our routes until Wednesday 9/10.
RATIONALE for NOT adding additional stops to routes until 9/10:
We must provide our drivers with finalized routes by August 21st so that they can do “dry runs” of their routes. It is critically important that they have a base understanding of their routes to ensure they will be arriving as close as possible to the stop times we have planned.
We need some time for the driver to get to know their routes before we begin changing them. If we were continue to change their routes in the days leading up to the beginning of school the drivers would need to continually relearn their routes.
After September 10th, we will add new stop locations if they make sense to the overall route efficiency and are for students’ safety.

Bus transportation is provided by First Student under contract with the Brighton School District. Transportation is provided for K-2 students living at least 1/8 mile from school, for 3-5 students living at least 1/4 mile from school, and for 6-12 students living at least 3/4 mile from school. Our goal is to provide all Brighton students with safe, pleasant and efficient transportation.
Bus schedules are mailed to parents during the last two weeks in August. Please allow a week or so for the bus to get on a regular schedule. Beyond that time, notify the transportation department of any problems with the bus schedule at 585-242-5200 Ext 5806.
-
Please be sure the transportation office has accurate information for day care and/or babysitting arrangements as they affect bus pick-up and drop-off. It is important you keep this information updated with any changes by using the Transportation Form that can be found on-line and at school.
Requests for a student to ride on an AM bus other than the one assigned MUST BE MADE IN WRITING and given to the AM Bus driver. In the PM, a child is only allowed to ride another bus with a Bus Dismissal Pass that is filled out and turned into school the day of the change. Bus dismissal passes are available for K-5 children on-line or the school's office.
