Qualified residents of the Brighton Central School District will vote on the next year’s school budget along with other items on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Central Administration Building, Gymnasium, Door 4, 2035 Monroe Ave. This is a new location for 2021.
Voters will elect two members to the Board of Education. There are five candidates and their names will appear on the ballot in the following order: Robert Bonfiglio, Christopher Ross, Christina Lee, Esther Winter, and Avram Berman. Click here to learn more about the candidates.
Requests for absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk on or before May 11, 2021 if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or on or before May 17, 2021 if the ballot is to be picked up by the voter.
The event will be held from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 18 outside of Twelve Corners Middle School.
We are expecting that at some point soon, there will be a verdict in the trial of Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer charged in the death of George Floyd. This is a situation that has garnered national attention and will likely impact children and families in a number of ways. I am simply writing to you in advance of the decision to provide updated links to resources that you might find helpful if you choose to discuss this situation at home and to let you know what our approach at school will be regarding this issue.
Meeting and learning from experienced musicians provides students a chance to see how music can play a role in their lives as they get older.
For Black History Month, French Road Elementary School classes created a Changemaker Walk throughout the building. Each classroom selected a changemaker and created a display outside their room to highlight the individual’s accomplishments.
French Road Elementary School students have been learning about the importance of changemakers, individuals who are taking action to solve a problem. As part of this unit, the school held a fundraiser called the Changemaker Change Challenge.
Several Twelve Corners Middle School and Brighton High School students had art selected for display in the Rochester Institute of Technology College of Art and Design’s Start Here High School and Middle School Exhibition 2021.
French Road Elementary School’s counselors and health teacher have been introducing the District’s online Wellness Suite to classes. The District Wellness Committee created the resource to support the community during these challenging and changing times.
