The Brighton boys indoor track team won a Section V Class A1 Championship on Feb. 19 at Nazareth University. It was the team’s first sectional championship since 1986.
 
Ben Rizzone won the 600-meter run and the 4x400 relay team of Finn McIntyre, Kadyn Buckner, Jaxon Maffei, and Will Vitale took first place. In the girls competition, Carly Giebel won the shot put championship.
 
Kylie Nicholson, Eli Strobert, Giebel, Vitale, Rizzone, McIntyre, and Maffei all qualified for states.
 
The boys indoor track team includes: Henry Alessandria, Bailey Bateman, Buckner, Julio Delgado Reve, Augustus Denhart, Leo Harris, Brandon Kemp, Robert Levy, William Luongo, Jack MacMillan, Maffei, McIntyre, Christian Morrison, Jack Pearson, Rizzone, Elias Seppo, Eli Strobert, Vitale, and Lionel Warner.
 
The team is coached by head coach Shannon Times and assistant coaches Devan Carter, Elease Cox-Haygood, Zach Faucher, Delia McDade Clay, and Pete Ronchetti.
