FRES Students Ride to School in a Fire Truck

Two French Road Elementary School students rode to school in a fire truck last week.

Gabe won the Brighton Fire Department’s Adopt-a-Hydrant contest. In October, he adopted a hydrant and sent in pictures showing he cleared it every time it snowed. Gabe’s efforts helped keep his whole neighborhood safe, because had there been a fire, firefighters would have been able to locate and access the hydrant quickly to get water on the fire. The Brighton Fire Department plans to continue the contest in future years. Families can adopt a hydrant at the department’s annual Open House, which is Oct. 25 from noon to 3 p.m. at 3100 East Ave.
