Free School Meals in 2026-27

Posted Date: 07/27/26 (12:45 PM)

Dear Brighton Families,

I hope this message finds you well. We are happy to announce that breakfast and lunch are free for all students for the 2026-27 school year. Families do not have to complete any forms for their student(s) to receive free meals at school — but we encourage families to complete the forms anyway! The District relies on completed forms for the purpose of New York State aid. Please find the following documents related to the 2026-27 school lunch program: 1) Income Data Collection Form for the 26-27 School Year and 2) a parent disclosure agreement. Please fill out the application completely and mail it to Brighton Food Service at 2035 Monroe Ave, Rochester, NY 14618. You may also hand deliver it to the District Office. Hours are Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Another option is to drop it off at the main office of your child’s school and they will send it to the Food Service office. We must have your original signature, please do not fax, or email the application.

Why should you fill out an application when all students eat for free already?
Even if your child chooses to bring their own lunch, filling out the form is very important! It ensures that your school gets all of the funding and benefits available to support teachers and students. Also, even if your child does not eat school lunch, students who qualify for free lunch also can receive other benefits like:

  • Access to future EBT benefits if they become available
  • Discounts for your family on utilities and internet service
  • Reduced fees for SAT and ACT tests and college applications
  • Reduced fees for AP exams
  • Scholarships for the EMCC Program

How does filling out the Multipurpose Family Income Form help my school?
  • Schools may become eligible for money to fund afterschool programs
  • Schools get more money in their budgets to support students
If you prefer a hard copy of the attached documents to be mailed to you, please email foodservice@bcsd.org or call 585-242-5200 Ext. 4567 and we would be happy to send you a copy.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to send an email or give us a call at 585-242-5200 ext. 4567. Again, welcome and we look forward to the opportunity to serve your student(s).

Sincerely,
