Attendance Matters: Working Together for Student Success

Posted Date: 10/07/26 (05:00 PM)

Please watch this video of our Superintendent Dr. Kevin McGowan talking about how the District is making chronic absenteeism a priority this school year and sharing data from the first month of school.

Most of our families do a great job with attendance, and we appreciate that.

The chronically absent percentage means that among all students who are absent, that percentage would be considered “chronically” absent. We count missing 10% of total school days as being chronically absent (2 days a month or 18 days of a 180-day school year). Our District goals are 95% or higher average daily attendance, as well as reducing chronic absenteeism numbers.

Thanks for your continued support in getting your students to school. If something is getting in the way, contact your student’s school early so we can work with you to find a solution.
